Make It Monday

Silky Cables is off the needles. Yay!

Shown here with the original in all it’s matted mohair / acrylic glory, just for good measure.

There’s been a wealth of sales and new yarn temptations come up in my email and I’m finding it VERY hard to resist buying a set of Addi Clicks from Webs – I have mostly very old Addis, the ones with the gold cords and they’re losing their plating :(. The Unique Sheep is running another mystery KAL, another design by Janine La Cras and I desperately want to fit this into my time and budget. The theme is King Arthur and his court, a favourite subject of mine and one of the inspiration photos from TUS “Camelot” Pinterest board is this gorgeous photo of the Glastonbury Tor:

If it’s Welsh or Wales, I’m all over it and I’m hearing that Marici silk lace calling me!

Annnddd… One more time with the “A” word: the link for my e-book “The Arcadian Collection”, containing all three patterns is >here< πŸ™‚

FO Friday

It must have been a warm day in Nunavut… I’ve gone finishing crazy. Making his FO debut is my β€œOllie” – the Oliver Twist MKAL shawl. Worked to pattern (nupps and minimal beads), no mods and in the colourway β€œYou Zig, I Zag” (you’ve got to pick a pocket or two boys) and with S/L chartreuse AB #6 beads. Ollie is huge and warm and totally my new boyfriend πŸ˜‰

Putting the blocks to Ollie 😊

I KNOW!! Right?!

When did I turn into “The Blockinator”?

So totally worth it to make the time. Ollie has come out huge and I’m glad, it gives the gradient colourway lots of room to be appreciated and look at all those nupps!

Loved this project. Janine is a whiz with lace patterns and I am totally smitten with the Unique Sheep’s Luxe base.

Santa?

Addewid’s debut:

The beads are lit up with natural daylight. Their colour is a deep ruby – S/L ruby AB’s for my bead people. The Elle Rae yarn is a deep rich black that has a lovely sheen. Love this project like crazy and I think I may have become a blocking convert!

Make It Monday

… of a different sort πŸ™‚

I was a busy bee this weekend. Having determined that the “truck” that hit me appears to be the gluten-mobile, I’m having much more energy after having revised my diet a little. It’s a learning curve. With that energy, I cleaned house, unpacked more (yes still unpacking), organized a large donation to our local Diabetes charity, did some work on Oliver (Clue 7, the final clue was released Friday) and I made this:

Make it Monday :)
I’ve become a furniture makin’ fool. I really love my Ikea Hemnes. This piece will go into the 2nd bedroom and I’m hoping to get my headboard together before the weekend comes.

Here is Ollie after completing Clue 6:

These are the last of the nupps in the design and there is just a hint of beading in the final clue. Seems in keeping with the theme of a shawl that “Nancy” would wear. I’m always sad to come to the end of a KAL. This one has been great. I’ve loved the TUS Lux and the colourway and Janine’s designs never fail to be a joy. She’s particularly good at combining the flow of lace patterning and it makes for a wonderful knitting experience.

Wishing you all a gentle Monday. Cheers!

Oliver After One Month

As if the weeks didn’t fly by quickly enough!

When you have something to look forward to, they fly faster and often better.

Here’s my “Ollie” after completing Clue 5:

Loving the “cameo” effect created by the nupps in the stocking stitch diamonds. This may be one of my favourite Unique Sheep colourways so far. I’m scheming already about how I can incorporate the various bases and colours into some sort of stashbuster blanket!
