I Do Knit – Honestly!

Maybe it’s winter, maybe it’s the hectic work schedule, maybe it’s having a “boy” underfoot (kidding! I love him underfoot) but it’s so hard to blog of late and as to reading other posts… there just aren’t enough hours in a day. This why I sometimes mention to comment and link me to any of your posts that you think are not-to-be-missed 🙂

In the interest of keeping this somewhat concise, I’ll gallery photos and the green links will have more construction details if you’re interested. Almost every project or purchase I’ve made is to aid my intrepid teammates, the Peppermint Ponies and I’m happy to say that I’ve reached level 1 in the Booster Club (can I say popped my cherry? I just did!) I’m at Cherry level and achieved the maximum points for my Q1 KAL – any Melanie Berg pattern – submission, ‘Moonraker‘. Canada Customs has been holding my Birthday order (placed on 15 Jan) hostage since the 22nd of January. I have no idea why this semi-regular order has aroused suspicion but am considering a covert mission to liberate the fuzzy goodness!

I’ve finished some long time WIP’s and hopelessly tangled some cobweb lace of a WIP that I hoped to be adding here but… damn… To keep me calm whilst waiting on my Postie to rescue my Birthday yarn, I’m working on a super cute Casapinka pattern called ‘Loop‘. It’s bright and fun, a stashbuster and super easy.

It’s February already and soon March will arrive and another round of National Crochet Month. I’ve picked a pattern and have some gorgeous – Yarn Porn ahead! – Yarn Love and Shibui to use for my first project. Planning ahead – bless my little ADD heart – this one will tie in nicely with Yarnathon 2017 projects and badge collecting.

I’m off to work – they just don’t understand about priorities, lol! – have a great rest of your week!

Worst Blogger Evah…

Yikes! A month gone by already? As 2016 closes I swear it’s picking up speed.

Family and Real Life have been keeping me hopping and I couldn’t be happier to see that the slow journey back to a positive balance in my corner of world is restored. I’m still knitting like a maniac but back in the land of the living too. My boy child has returned from his “Go West young man” adventure and will be staying local. The girl has married and moved to a different province – not because her brother came home! – and she and my SIL are happy and excited to be starting a new phase of their life. This mumma is verra chuffed! Get togethers with my Mamasan and Sibs and spending time with “Handy Andy” working on making this house more of a home are a welcome diversion from the laptop.

So. What’s up in the crafty, fibre-y part of my life? A few FO’s, a WIP or two and the bones for a new KeiB Designs design. I’m overdue for a pattern release. In the interest of keeping things short ‘n sweet and getting on with my Saturday plans, I’ll do my montage thing and you can click them for more info if you want.

The WIP’s and new design you’ll have to take my word for! Several things have been set aside for projects that move me ahead in the Eat.Sleep.Knit Yarnathon 2016 – just a couple more weeks to go! I hope your weeks have been filled with whatever makes you happy – as long as it isn’t illegal, immoral or fattening – and I’ll be back soon or soon-ish… 😉

Falling Stars

Finished up my “Aurora Borealis” Stole and happy with the result. I winged the gradient effect to use up two full skeins of Malabrigo Silkpaca and added slip stitch borders on the short ends. The beads are #5 Miyuki in an iridescent blue purple that picked up the tiny bit of purple in the “Azules” colourway.

This one was my project for Eat.Sleep.Knit’s “Star Stitch” KAL and I gotta say… those stars are pretty but they are about as fun as a Klingon fart in the transporter room to work for any length of time. My hands were not happy about this at all. Hopefully, some accumulated yardage points and a star for my team, the “Starsheep” will make it worthwhile in the end. The colours are typically hard to capture but links from my project page to the stash that I worked with are pretty good if you’re curious about the tones and depth of the colours; they are nice on this particular base. I found myself petting quite a bit! A sweater in the Silkpaca would be luxurious *sigh*A

My “Starburst” Hat is blocked too – love the balloon trick! It’s size Small, for a Littlie so no modelled photos.

How ‘Bout We Title This Post?

This is another of those “where did the time go?” posts. It’s true, this year has flown by and tomorrow is the last day of September. Autumn has been glorious so far, warm and sunshiny but they don’t last long in this neck of the woods. I’ve been knitting like a fiend as usual and trying to get a few things done around the house and garden. This girl is already in the slide to full hibernation. To bed early, harder to get up when the alarm goes and there’s only a hint of the dawn.

On the fibre front, I finished up my Rheinlust Shawl and glad to have it off the needles. It kept getting set aside for other projects but the end result is pretty.

Rheinlust:

For more stashbusting and a few stars for my Eat.Sleep.Knit team, the Starsheep, I knit up this nifty crescent shawl, Olilia. Short rows shape it and it’s worked in two coordinating Sweet Georgia yarns.

A couple mini projects followed, Black Locust fingerless gloves and my Relativity cowl:

I did finish my nameless (Frozen Lake) shawl but it’s not blocked just yet 🙂 My favourite WIP of the moment is my Warren Cardigan. I should be joining to begin working the body at some point tonight.

WIP Wednesday

Finally digging out from under the WIP pile. Not that I mind, I am a process knitter – if someone kept changing the skein for me, I’d probably be happy working on that scarf I started when I was four! 🙂

I have still not got round to say hello to all of you and I am sorry. I simply haven’t checked my WordPress email or reader in like, a month and now I’m afraid to – it’s linked to my poetry blog and… email overload! I’m not ignoring anyone, just utterly overwhelmed with social media. Please feel free to message or comment if you have something I shouldn’t miss and of course, I haven’t given up my Ravelry, Instagram or FB; you can always find me there 🙂

In progress are : Rheinlust Shawl – still need to rescue those dropped, twisted stitches and so it’s in “Time Out”, Trilo Cardi – backburnered for test knitting and baby knitting, Ariel Pulli – just needs sleeves, Summer Breeze Shawl – also backburnered for baby knitting and my Scarabée Argent – anxious to finish but the test knit and Castra KAL that ended yesterday were getting all of the knitting love. I’m still waiting on that extra set of arms to grow in!

The Firefly test knit is almost complete and I’ve enjoyed working on it. Using up more stash was just a bonus. This is a new pattern from my friend Anja of Buntart on Ravelry and I think it’ll be well liked. The colour options are endless – tonal, contrast, harmonized, gradient – and the knitting is easy peasy. Details are on my Ravelry > here <.

FO Friday ~ Jungle Superhero Pram Blanket

Off the hook and going soon to Mama, Papa and Baby.
My project notes are on Ravelry -> here <-

JSPB’s portfolio:

I’ve been somewhat AWOL the last couple of weeks. Mostly to be sure JSPB was finished but also am participating in Yarn Love’s Castra KAL and test knitting a shawl for my friend Anja (it’s interesting and fun – you’ll want it 🙂 ).and will have an update later this week.

I’m working hard supporting the ‘Save Mooney’s Bay‘ community group and this is my priority at the moment.

A member created this wonderful Youtube video that hits the highlights and provides a link where you can add your voice. Your support would be very appreciated.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend! 🙂

Make It Monday ~ Late

I am introverting so hard the last few weeks – sorry for not being more interactive with everyone. Even posting feels like a chore lately.

I do have an FO. My ‘Gothic Starfish‘ afghan is finally finished and ready for gifting. Love the end result but so damn glad this is done! It started as a “let’s use this up” and quickly escalated to a “No-o-o-o! I need to buy more acrylic!” Anyway. It’s perfect for its new home and hopefully, I’ll have pix soon of this eclectic piece in its eclectic house.

I’m working on Le Scarabée Bleu and Brise d’été and loving them both. I can work in the back garden now – it’s tidy, old picnic table gone, shrubs shrubbing, flowers flowering and I have a pretty nook to sit at while I knit, hook and daydream – hence my absence from the Interwebs. I can’t recommend strongly enough unplugging, it’s such a gift!

Victoria Day weekend was amazing – more soul restoring with my Bestie and I’ve been getting my butt to the other side of town for ‘Sit ‘n Knit’ at my LYS, Yarn Forward. At this rate, I may even make it to Guild meetings!  I haven’t written a darn thing, nor do I miss it or care – not so much ‘writer’s block’ as ‘this writer don’t give a crap’ – so liberating! My books are still on Amazon and I don’t have to stress about the devolving of WordPress for poets and authors. More time to do the things that make me happy. Win!

I hope your summer is humming along beautifully and feel free to say hi on Ravelry or Instagram – I’m there more often because they’re ‘quick and dirty’ for posting 🙂

À plus tard!
