Whack ‘O Wollmeise

The Wollmeise has got to go. Details provided at the Ravely links beneath each photo.

Four skeins, including a 2007 club colour “Fratello”. $30.00US each. These are not marked up, they are the price I paid, as are any skeins in my “Stash for Sale”.

On my Ravelry, I offer to pay 1/2 of the calculated shipping cost for any three skeins purchased at one time. I will pay the full cost for shipping if one crazy person buys all four skeins at once to USA or CDN addresses (e-transfer preferred or Paypal)

Hello There

An unintended break happened. Probably a good thing, my brain is on serious overload – pretty sure I look like the definition of “Cat on a hot tin roof”. I can always make stuff, thank goodness. Keeps me sane. Mostly…

I’m working a store sample for “Filigree”, to be carried at my LYS if all goes well. Still on the prototype for “Lotus and Bamboo”. My crossed v. twisted stitches were not cooperating with the cable effect I was looking for. I think I’m sorted now and if this goes as planned, I think it’ll be lovely!

I was out the weekend past to a private home show for YvieKnits Yarns, Fancy That and Natalie Servant Designs; three wonderfully talented ladies that I’m happy to call my friends. The temptress Joanne, from Wild Woolly joined them this time and of course, I went home with more than I planned to! I allowed myself some of Yvonne’s silk merino in two different bases for a new design (possibly an older one if the LYS wants another pattern) and I couldn’t resist some of WW’s wonderful handmade soaps, lotion bars and a body lotion. I’ll need to shower three times a day to use all this up!

FO Friday :)

I just realized how badly misinterpreted that post title could be by knitting muggles…

Alas, they shall have to remain uninitiated :p

I wrapped up the prototype for “Filigree” today and am mostly happy with it. I’m going to tweak a thing or two for the testknit. I reclaimed some Handmaiden Camelspin in the rose garden colourway for the that. I’m looking forward to knitting it all over again!

My Lazy Ripple is done too, so lazy that I’m not going to block it. It’s lazy because there weren’t formal row counts. This was meant totally for stashbusting and so I used every bit of all the skeins. I like how it came out and I hope there’ll be some babies show up in my circle to gift it to 🙂

WIP Wednesday

Uugghh…

It’s all about the WIP’s this week I’m afraid. I’ve done it to myself with this damn “startitis” and lack of sufficient pairs of arms. I finished the prototype for “James Harris” and am currently working the test knit from my draft pattern. Savannah is my “selfish knitter” and “Reign” accompaniment, so not a lot done but progressing. I keep on staring at the yarn for the test knit of Matinée II (the Mrs. Crosby) but I’ve psyched myself out with the technique I want to use v. practical application / joy of the knitting / fear of buggering up the most gorgeous yarn evah! I suppose a dip in the frog pond wouldn’t be the end of the world if things… unravel…

Deep Breath…

Hello All,

I don’t have any new pictures just this moment, though I can say that “Carnelian” is coming along nicely.

I did want to let you know (with butterflies in my stomach) that I’ve taken the plunge and started a little space on Facebook for PSPRP. I’m hoping that you’ll feel welcome to “like” the page (and the real me too!) and will feel free to chat, share or buy. There is an integrated shopping cart with access to PayPal.

I took the leap to have “one stop shop” that is easy for folks who may not be bloggers or Ravelry people to find me 🙂 The link is just below, I hope you’ll like the content and will feel free to share it. Please know that your support is much appreciated – ’cause I am nervous as all get out! Facebook is quite different from the smaller community of WordPress or Blogger.

Hope to see you there!

‘Dem Bones

Skully” is finished and I love him!

This is going to be fun to customize 🙂 Embroidery, beads, craft findings, even fabric paint. He’ll go from a subtle and well-behaved skeleton to a party-on-dude dia des los muertos sugarskull with just a visit to the craft store. The #UCG version will be black and in a blend with sheen; merino / tencel or a merino / silk. Embellishments will be jet or marcasite-type and very understated so that those of us who are “working for the Clampdown”, can still be “work appropriate” *cough* without compromising our personal style. It was a good week for Yarn Pr0n too – I know – I could easily open my own shop but I’ve been so-o-o good for the last couple years (for real!) and when I’ve ordered of late, I’ve used the purchase up for test knits or to finish languishing projects.

That’s my story. I’m sticking to it!

What arrived are: Sweet Paprika, “Messa Di Voce“, the last of three shipments of the sweater club I joined last year and some gorgeous Blue Sky Alpacas “Alpaca Silk” to make Dolce Knits “Victoria”. Can’t wait to get my needles into this lot.

Grumpy

It’s grey and overcast but that’s not so bad… the issue is not having that 2nd and 3rd pair of hands or a backup brain that can do better math!

I love this design I’m working on but it’s been giving me grief since conception. It’s not unusual for me to have to abandon an idea simply because it doesn’t translate well to knit or crochet. It’s not unusual to have to really work hard at finding stitches and patterns to bring a concept to life, to have to reign in my ADD or to have to squirrel about finding the right tools and yarn to test knit. What is rare is when it all happens in one design AND when I’m suffering from the dithery-ness of Spring Fever! It’s very usual to have overused double negatives for em-pha-sis :). It may be time to start saving up for a charting software and a schematics software, if there is such a thing. Graphing by hand – each, and, every, square – is hell! Especially if a version doesn’t work or needs mods…

“Skully” and me are not speaking today. I am treating my brain to the feel of Tosh Sock gliding through my fingers and someone else’ pattern writing skills!
