Spring 2015 Color Report From Pantone

Again, dreaming ofย spring in the midst of Winter…

Here is Pantone’s official colour palette for this year. I’m less enthusiastic about some of these selections but there are definitely some that will make their way into my crafting or home.

My evolving taste in interior design colours has me looking at the Pantone Colour of the Year, “Masala”. Shown here in various accessories, it’s easy to picture adding it into an existing colour theme.

Green is one of my favourite colours and it is a strong part of my decor palette.ย “Woodbine” is a lovely warm green that looks great in the treatment below:

Woodbine Decor Spring 2015

I like blue but have used it less in recent years. Our first little townhouse was decorated at the height of my love for antiques and the desire for an older home. Colonial blue and Wedgwood – and geese! Let’s not forget the proliferation of geese on everything ๐Ÿ™‚ – were colours that I loved then. Seeing “Dusk Blue”, which was a colour of the year in 2013 as well, used in more simple treatments and with muted greys and mauves; makes it feel much more current and for me, I love the natural feel it evokes.

There are great photos all over the Internet, showing creative ways to incorporate or reinvent your home and wardrobe to include 2015’s colours. My home is looking relatively stylish – in terms of colour ๐Ÿ˜‰ – nice for a change! I’ll be knitting and crocheting for the shop with an eye to some of the warmer palette shown this year.

What will you be creating in the latest fashion colours? ๐Ÿ™‚

Spring 2014 Color Report From Pantone

Why yes. We are already dreaming of spring. It’s a tradition here in the frozen north to be surprised that it’s so damn cold and pine for spring for the next four months.

So what do you think? Here is the official colour palette:

Here are a few decor applications that I rather like. Violet Tulip and Radiant Orchid being favourites right away for me. I am all about the purple, all of the time.

For knitting and crochet, I think it would be fair to say that with the addition of some shades and tones of “Paloma”, I will be able to be very current come the thaw. I’m sure there’ll be a new crop of patterns coming soon that’ll be showing some of these 2014 selections. Can’t wait!

Here is a great link that shows some of the fashion concepts that designers are envisioning for spring. Great mix of warm, cool and neutrals. It looks like there’ll be a colour for everyone next season. ๐Ÿ™‚

Housekeeping and Progress

I’ve added another gallery to the “My Galleries” tab. Slow but sure, things are being transferred and updated. With spring in the air in both my homes, that inclination to renovate, renew and reinvent is definitely on the brain!

A new home, with new decorating possibilities… The mind boggles at all the options out there and of course, as an artist, I find I am brimming over with new ideas for patterns, art and a new book.

Breakfast Nook Home Office

I think its time that I have a “proper ” home office, one that isn’t the top of every piece of furniture in ย my living room! If I can arrange for the floor to ceiling, wall to wall window, I shall. My breakfast nook “thing” started when I was really little. My Grandma had one and I’ve many fond memories or meals, reading and art projects done there. That and a walk-in pantry. Every good cook needs one of those…

Oh! Knitting… Forgot about that, smiles.

SPNF #8 flew off the hook. Here’s the finished photo:

SPNF #7 is still in the works. Being as this is a “plain” I find it a little less exciting to work on but its coming along nicely:

This and the 10th (and final!) are crochet so I’m expecting to have both done very soon. So pleased with this project / challenge that I set for myself. Its official, I have more FO’s in three months than I did all year last year. The writing irons in the fire took time and precedence but I’m finding the balance between both these particular vices.

The best part of this project?

One now empty box of yarn means no guilt about adding that skein of Sundara for a shawl at the end of this month – Crochet Month.
