I need to vent – feel free to run away now.
Some twit emailed me through my Etsy shop yesterday about some yarn. A silly question, considering the info was in the listing but I answered politely and on the off chance she might be serious, mentioned I’d listed it at discount.
She responded with: “Actually it was $__.__ .” (less than what I’d just typed).
Really? You are going to ask me a question and then call me a liar? At this point, I’m so angry I’d rather burn the yarn than sell it to her but I respond politely if firmly that I do NOT misrepresent prices.
She responded with: “…, I didn’t mean to offend you.” On what planet is calling someone a liar NOT offensive?!
Meanwhile, I’m so incensed, I’ve checked the actual yarn and to my utter chagrin, see that I’ve been wrong about a characteristic of the yarn (fortunately, not in the listing itself). Now I’m pissed off with myself for allowing my temper to get ahead of my typing but it doesn’t matter, I never want to deal with this person again. I wish Etsy offered blocking.
**Steamed** but I think I can return to my normal happy self now.
I’m super pleased with the new format being offered for shop owners on Etsy – that’s saying a lot. Generally speaking, change of any sort has me quivering tearfully in a corner like some overgrown, purple-haired OCD hamster!
Not this time though. There’s been a standardization for the way shop policies are presented, with the ability to tailor them for each shop owner. The new look is streamlined with lots of white space, larger photos and all the information is on one ‘page’, just scroll to find the shop related info like: policies, about and reviews. The categories are in a less ‘fussy’ font, larger and easier to find and after all that scrolling, there’s the ‘ejector’ button down on the bottom right so you’re popped back to the top, ready to shop!
How do you owners and customers feel about the new look? And please stop by and visit me at KeiB Designs And Knits – feel free to leave your Etsy link in the comments below.
Cheers All! 🙂

Except all the work…
The time had more than come for an investment of effort. My Etsy shop is 8 years old now and I’ve been on Ravelry since 2007. Needless to say, many photos needed updates – some still need to be scanned for upload. Things like links, tags, SEO, other social media weren’t around then and sadly some of my early posts and listings were very ‘bush league’.
Today was the day that I made time to update some old knitting project photos and with that came the motivation to do a massive revamp. I focused on Etsy and the trickle-down landed on Flickr and Ravelry. The task isn’t quite finished but close to it and I’m glad with the results. Part of the update process was to unpack, evaluate and post or pitch my many counted cross stitch kits and supplies. At one time, I was as obsessed with this craft as I currently am with knitting and the CCS stash accrued shows it! The bottom line is – I will never be able to do it all (36 kits x 1 month to complete = 3 years of samplers and that isn’t all of them!) and I have the same dilemma with my knitting. Knitting won. The prize is more room for the yarn because all of my ‘Just Nan’ sampler charts / kits are listed on Etsy and you can find those here: JN Cross Stitch. If you have any friends or family who might be ISO of these retired patterns, feel free to pass along the link. If you’d care to ‘follow’ or ‘favourite’ my shop – KeiB Designs and Knits– please do! It’d make my day.
I took the time to update several FO photos of scarves that are in my Ravelry projects and also listed on Etsy. My ‘M’amselle’ mannequin is new and a much better model than the kitchen table, floor or Ikea cot that was my background for years :). This led to tweaking my LinkedIn and adding proper tags and descriptions to all that stuff in Flickr.
There are times that I really like this OCD thing!
How was your week in fibre and life in general?

I didn’t plan to post again so soon… is slow here in blogland and summer is all too fleeting in The Great White North but…
I saw the first of them.
Those harbingers of doom – the annoying people who start posting about it being halfway through the year and “better start planning for Christmas”. Don’t even get me started on “Back To School” being in the shops already. What happened to enjoying the moment?!
I didn’t start it but it brought to mind that yes, I will be crafting for people and I suspect some of you may be too. So, I thought that I’d mention that I’ve been updating yarns for sale on my Ravelry stash tab – yes, still unpacking and organizing. There is lots new including: much sought after limited edition colours, discontinued and out of business Indie sock yarn, Socks That Rock!, Rowan yarns – several that are discontinued, cashmere, alpaca, Lucky Lurker “Duets” sock yarns and some Vegan-friendly skeins too. Tons more in a range of weights. I recently began an offer to pay half of the shipping cost on any purchase of three (3) skeins, this doesn’t include purchases that are sold as lots.
I also have some handspun yarns, tools, books and patterns available at my Etsy shop and for those who don’t knit or are pressed for time this year, I have several finished knit and crochet items in the Etsy shop.
Now if that doesn’t jingle your bells in July, I’m sure this will!
From So Many Vices, So Little Time:
“I’ve added a few things to my Etsy shop, most notably there is a sale on OOAK and prototype scarves going on. A little bit of handspun that I’ve been hoarding and a few tools and bits.
You can find a wider selection of my downloadable knitting patterns here: PSPRP Patterns
The full range is on Ravelry and Craftsy.
Enjoy your week 🙂
My poor Etsy shop is sadly neglected at times but in the interest of getting things back on track, I’m having a wee sale and this is a preview:
Last year’s OOAK’s will be on sale in my Etsy shop shortly. Regular $35.00 US, all at $5.00 off.
Feel free to message if anything catches your eye, this will be a coming weekend project, time permitting 🙂
I love Cons and wear them all the time. I’ve been going through at least a pair a year since I wasn’t “double digits”. My Dad’s fault, he wore “Army Go Fasters” as a kid and I thought he looked like the coolest ever, smiles. I found this article that is perfect for combining Cool and Geek in all its forms. Knitted Cons! This Etsy artist makes them to order as well. I think I want a pair with Thunderbird One on them…
Her Etsy shop is here: PrettySneaky and if you click the Tardis sneaker below, it’ll take you to the article. There are some great pictures of other geeky sneaks that she’s made.
