Well, perhaps a little some some… it IS WIP Wednesday so here’s a peek at a prototype. A very naughty prototype – math, yarn types, math, three false starts and math, made me think this one didn’t want to be made but it’s creeping along now:

A little blue with the unmistakeable change in the air that signals the end of summer and the quick and inevitable transition to winter. Our autumn here doesn’t last very long or I might enjoy it more.
Sharing a collage piece,”Kei’s Five Beautiful Things” that I post regularly on my poetry blog, The Eclectic Poet from what was the last true week of summery goodness. Sometimes, I need to remind myself that there are always reasons to smile.
(In it’s entirety from the original post):
In this instant I am perfectly, completely happy.
Public Transit = found time for things I love
Corn Maiden, Wolf Runner, Nanuq. Everyday talismans.
My newest indoor orchid
A table full of bright potential
Queen Bee approves Spiraea Japonica Shirobana
These are the things that stopped me – if only for a moment – to really appreciate that moment, in joy, humour, wonder… Five beautiful things.
2 September 2015
I WILL be saying “Arcadian” again in this post. It’ll be later though 🙂
I hope to ETA this post a little later with the “Finished” photo of Silky Cables. I’m about to begin the last half of the second sleeve and am really happy about the colour match of my “insurance” skeins. I definitely needed them. These blousey, dolman-like sleeves are using up two and a smidgen skeins each! This is a lot of sweater and one of the reasons I love it so much.
Once I’ve freed up the needles, I have just the cuffs to work on Harmonia’s Rings. This was another yarn miracle – to find insurance skeins from Madelinetosh (she of no dye lots) that were purchased in the same year, mere months, same shop and in the hands of someone south of the border willing to part with this (gasp!) discontinued colourway – and to find upon their arrival here they look to have come from the same batch…
Can I get a Hell Yeah?!
I’m still working away at the small, “filler” projects and sketching and plotting madly for some new designs. It’s fair to say that my new poison is making best friends of knit and crochet. Putting my hands on some King Cole “Galaxy” and some Berroco Vintage DK today means I’ll have to get at some prototype planning. My next big project will probably be the “Impromptu” cardigan. I’ve some gorgeous Canopy Fingering in “Crocus” a deep plummy shade and a few choices in contrasting or coordinating fingering for the pocket linings. My favourite is the Sirdar Baby Bamboo, though it’s a bit on the heavy side:
Galaxy for a new design
Mmm… pocket linings 🙂
… or this
… or even this
The first of the Arcadian patterns is available now on Ravelry. Pattern page here.
The rest will follow shortly, now that I’ve had a chance to work the kinks out of the new format and PDF transfer. It felt great to flex those old technical writer bones and I hope that crafters will like the more streamlined look. All three will be available in an e-book format as well as individually in a day or two.
All this means I should get myself to bed. It’s rainy gently, such a beautiful sound when it returns in the spring and I’ll be dreaming in colour for sure!
